Members of the Central Board of Ansor Youth Movement held a meeting with general chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Said Aqil Siroj, popularly known as Kang Said, at the NU headquarters over the weekend.

"It is like a child holding talks with his parent and is usually because of (discussing) problems," the chairman of Ansor H. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said.

The man popularly known as Gus Yaqut said that his meeting was to seek advice and input from KH Said Aqil Siroj related to what should be done by Ansor.

"It is especially related to the Jakarta gubernatorial elections," he explained.

Gus Yaqut was deeply concerned over what happened in Jakarta would spread to other areas. Furthermore, he said organizationally GP Ansor was neutral with respect to the Jakarta elections.

"Although many people who encourage us to support certain pair," he explained.

In response, Kang Said told Ansor that not to feel alone, insecure and desperate.

"We are not alone. NU is not alone, Ansor is not alone. There have been many kiai (clerics) standing by ourselves," he said.

The most important thing, Kang Said added, all Ansor board members must retain the principles of istikamah and consistently in maintaining the Unitary State Republic of Indonesia. (Muchlishon Rochmat/Masdar)
