President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be gathering along with his family at the Bogor Presidential Palace during the night before Idul Fitri, known as takbiran, Antara news agency reported.

"The president will gather with his family on the night before Idul Fitri, known as takbiran," Deputy of Press, Protocol, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin remarked in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In addition, on the first day of Lebaran (Idul Fitri holidays), the Presidential Secretariat will hold Jokowi's open house reception to mark Idul Fitri celebrations for the public on Wednesday.

Machmudin expounded that the people keen on attending Jokowi's open house reception can congregate at the National Monument (Monas) to register themselves.

Furthermore, the residents will be brought to the State Palace complex, Jakarta, aboard several buses. On arrival at the State Palace, the community will gather in a special tent while awaiting their turn to meet Jokowi.

"The community will be served while they await Jokowi's arrival," he remarked.

Earlier, on Monday (June 3), Jokowi had delivered Idul Fitri greetings to all Indonesians celebrating it.

The president is optimistic that the Idul Fitri celebrations would serve as a momentum to bolster the spirit of national unity and brotherhood, both within families and among communities.

Earlier, at an Isbat (confirmation) meeting, the government had decided that the start of 1 Shawwal, or Idul Fitri 1440 Hegira/2019 AD, fell on Wednesday, June 5.

The decision is based on the results of Islamic congregation conducted by the Ministry of Religion along with several parties on monitoring the crescent moon from 33 provinces in Indonesia.

"1 Syawal 1440 Hijrah falls on Wednesday, June 5, 2019," Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin stated in Jakarta, Monday.

He revealed that the crescent moon was monitored from 105 locations spread across 33 Indonesian provinces. (Masdar)

Jakarta, NU Online
The government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that 1 Shawwal 1440 Hijriah would fall on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. This announcement was delivered after holding a congregation hearing in Jakarta which was held on Monday (3/6) evening.

Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin chairing the meeting explained that the position of the new moon below the horizon was seen from all corners of the country, with a height of minus 1 degree 26 minutes up to minus 0 degree 6 minutes.

The falakiyah team of the Ministry of Religious Affairs deployed in some 105 points throughout the country from Aceh to Papua, also reported that none of them managed to see the new moon.

This decision is also in line with the predictions of the hisab data issued by the NU Falakiyah Institution in Jakarta which revealed that Monday the ijtima or conjunction occurred at 17:01:42 WIB. The hilal height is minus 0 degree 14 minutes 57 seconds. Theoretically, the hilal is in a position below this type of horizon is very difficult to see.

Thus, the month of Ramadan was completed to 30 days (istikmal), and Muslims still have to fast one more day, Tuesday (4/6) tomorrow.

Itsbat congregation was attended by representatives of Islamic organizations, heads of Islamic boarding schools, astronomers, delegates from friendly countries, and members of the House of Representatives

The country's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) also announced that the beginning of Shawwal 1440 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. The Ikhbar is based on the results of the NU rukyat team observations in various regions on Monday (3/6) evening, which failed to see the new moon.

The NU Ikhbar was stated in a letter number 3547 / C.I.34/6/2019 signed by the Rais Aam of NU KH Miftachul Akhyar, Secretary General of NU Advisory Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, NU General Chairman of KH Said Aqil Siroj, and NU Secretary General H Helmy Faishal Zaini.

NU also appealed to all Muslims, especially Nahdliyin (NU members), to complete their fasting to 30 days and celebrate Eid al-Fitr on June 5, 2019. "Happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Shawwal 1440 H, with great joy. Sorry both physically and mentally," wrote the letter. (Mahbib/Masdar)

Jakarta, NU Online
Member of the Advisory Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Ma'ruf Amin guided a senior anchor Imanuel Bagus Aditio Nugroho popularly known as Tio Nugroho to convert to Islam. Tio pronounced with sincere conviction the two syahadah (declaration of faith) at the Kiai Ma'ruf's residence, Jln Situbondo, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday (1/6).

When guiding the recitation of the syahadah, Kiai Ma'ruf previously made sure that Tio had carried out this process with full awareness and of his own willingness. "Are you ready to say the declaration of faith to convert to Islam?" asked Kiai Ma'ruf as in the video aired by INews, Sunday afternoon.

Tio who at that time shaked hands with Kiai Ma'ruf immediately answered (I am) "ready" while nodding his head.

Kiai Ma'ruf then asked whether there was compulsion or pressure in his decision to convert to Islam. Tio answered firmly "no".

"Alhamdulillah," said the supreme council of NU for the 2015-2018 period.

Kiai Ma'ruf guided Tio to pronounce the declaration of faith along with its translation.

After pronouncing the syahadah, Tio kissed the hand of Kiai Ma'ruf for a few seconds. Kiai Ma'ruf then closed the process of Tio's muslim convert by offering a prayer. Tio appeared sobbing and repeatedly wiped his tears.

Tio was called to become Muslim because he shuddered to hear the call to prayer at dawn after work. Hearing the story, Kiai Ma'ruf said he was happy. According to him, this is the guidance of Allah to His servants. (Mahbib/Masdar)
