General Charman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said here Tuesday that the UN 1747 resolution was the step of the world powers to destroy Iran. He was deeply concerned it would come true.
“We NU are really worried if the resolution is such a first step to destroy Iran like that occurred in Iraq,” Hasyim said at the opening of international conference on Iraq in the Bogor Presidential Palace.<>
The president of World Conference on Religion and Peace said, what should be immediately taken into account by Muslims all over the world dealing with the religious principles is how to carefully choose priority like how to reorganize the world’s Muslim community within the frame of brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah).
“For in fact many Muslim leaders have no such reasonable attitude in both fighting against the enemy and reorganizing themselves and the people (ummat),” Hasyim said.
The second priority, Hasyim added, was how to uphold Muslim groups and countries over the threat posed by any aggressors willing to dominate.
Hasyim also hoped "that this conference will contribute to international efforts to bring peace and harmony to Iraq. The conference will also serve as a preliminary step toward Indonesia's greater engagement in Iraq."
"We need to re-establish Ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) so that we don't fight each other and let our enemy destroy us," he said.(mkf)
