General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi responded to a proposal of the new formation of cabinet by presenting young minister as that happened during Soeharto’s administration. He said the proposal was not a brilliant solution to overcome the national crisis.

Hasyim said the statement above at a nationhood conference entitle: “Upholding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia: Study on Nation Disintegration Potential,” held in Islamic Boarding “Ponpes” School Al-Hikam Malang, East Java, Saturday (24/6).

Hasyim was not so sure that the proposed new formation of the cabinet would be effective. As for him, the main issue was on how far the spirit of national leaders’ nationalism and responsibility to the people. He then asked further guarantee of the formation.

“Now never talk about structural, the important thing is state's work effectiveness that needs to be shown to the people,” the leader of Islamic Boarding  “Ponpes” School Al-Hikam said.

At present, Hasyim himself was so concern with any national situation, say that an indication that there was no more attention to Indonesia’s people from Indonesian government.

“By the condition, what needs to be improved is the recent formation of the cabinet,” he said.

At the same time, political analyst of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), J Kristiadi suggested the statement proposed by Golkar Party’s Agung Laksono to president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) related to the new formation of cabined, was too premature.

“If he (Agung Laksono: read) wants to propose, please propose it concretely. For instance what field of young minister does Golkar want?” Kristiadi said.

He also pointed out the proposed of the new formation was likely part of Golkar political willing to accommodate its interest.

”Is there such a guarantee by adding young minister will solve (national) problems, and even it will add new problem?” Kristiadi argued. (rif)
