The bridgebuilding Imam of the Brighton Islamic Mission, Dr Abdul Jalil Sajid visited to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) office on Monday (2/10) to know more about the country’s largest Muslim organization.
The man born in the remote village of Rajanpur, Pakistan expressed his gratitude for getting warm welcome from the chairman of PBNU HM Rozy Munir and scores of the NU prominent men.
He said the concepts evolved by the NU, namely tawasuth (moderate attitude), tasamuh (tolerant attitude), tawazun (balancing attitude in serving for harmonious relationship among fellow human beings) and ta’addul (justice) were the principles of Islam. “It’s really Islam.”
Respecting the NU attitudes, he suggested that “Islam is religion of peace.” “We need to cooperate with all people regardless of their background. That’s why, dialog is the key rather than confrontation,” he added. (dar)
