Thousands of Lirboyo Islamic boarding school students in Kediri, East Java, again held a special prayer to ask for rain on Friday (24/11).

Unlike in the first prayer, this time the caretakers of the boarding school also joined  the prayer.

<>One of the school caretakers, KH Agus An’im, said the prayer was this time was more serious than the last one.

"This was the first time the boarding school held such a prayer twice this month. Ten years ago  rain fell immediately after such  a prayer was conducted," he said.

"Now, although it has been raining the past two weeks, but not everyday."

KH Anwar Manshur, another caretaker of the school, said that the prayer which originated from Prophet Mohammad,  would be conducted until it rained.

"The present drought is very severe. A lot of people have suffered water shortages. Therefore we will continue to conduct the prayer until the rail falls," he said. (ant/dar)
