Chairman of the Central Noard of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Abbas Muin called on Nahdliyin (NU followers) to have such long-term orientation in strengthening their competitiveness with others.
"Yet it's necessary to change our way of thinking and stay patient from any ambition to reach results," he said told reporters at the PBNU headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.<>
He said on account of short-term orientation, the Nahdliyin had most of the time been the object of other parties including in dealing with political interest so that "there is no significant changes as part of Indonesian citizens though the NU has constantly struggled for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) in any critical circumstances."
Concerning the current global financial crisis, KH Abbas said the Nahdliyin would not face its "disastrous" impact for seeing what possessed by the Nahdliyin are properties rather than shares with their fluctuative prices.
In the meantime, he reminded the Nahdliyin of the importance of making the best use of the properties in processing land results for instance and not just selling them in the form of raw products. (dar)
