Tulungagung, NU Online
General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that the transnational political movements could undermine the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) in safeguarding its sovereignty. These movements could also be played by outsiders in controlling the nation in nature.

Hasyim called on the followers of the Indonesia's biggest Muslim organization well-known as Nahdliyin not to follow any intrigoes and steps taken by players of the transnational political movements.&<>lt;br />
He reminded the Nahdliyin of the importance of defending the nation from relying on any foreign powers.

"NU followers are supposed not to follow steps of the transnational political movements," Hasyim told reporters while attending a meeting between PBNU and the Kediri's Residency Regional Board members at the Pesantren Hidayatul Mubtadi'ien, Ngunut, Tulung Agung regency, East Java on Sunday.

The meeting was also attended by NU functionaries from regencies such as Kediri, Trenggalek, Blitar and Nganjuk. Present also at the occasion were Chairman of the East Java's NU Regional Board Ali Maschan Moesa and the Regent of Tulung Agung Heru Tjahjono.

As reported by NU Online's Muhibuddin, Hasyim said the existence of separatist movements across the country was the result of the transnational political ones.

"The separatist movements have come into existence because of foreign intervention" Hasyim said, adding that the transnational movements had been key players of the scene.

The caretaker of the Malang's Al Hikam Islamic boarding "Pesantren" school was of view that these movements had triggered cross-religious conflicts and even conflicts among Muslims.

"The capacity of the nation of ours has been getting declined. Take a look any cases ranging from the Ambalat case, the Free Papua Organization (OPM), the South Maluku Republic (RMS), till the signed UNSC resolution on Iran." Hasyim said, asking the meaning of a US congressman coming to the State Palace by wearing shorts.

In the meantime Hasyim also urged the government to pay more attention to the fate of Lapindo mudflow victims and Indonesian overseas workers (TKI) remaining unclear.

In his speech, Hasyim expressed his deeply concern over the nation's condition. "Indonesia has now been such a "football match" played by foreign countries."

Hasyim took the loss of Indonesian territory, the sufferings of TKIs, and the European Union (EU) banning Indonesian airlines to fly to the EU for instance. As for him, these were concrete examples on how low the Indonesia's credibility was.

"The ban of the Indonesian carriers to fly (to the EU) means that our products can not be brought there. This is dangerous," Hasyim warned.

"Our political situation has day after day been colored by constantly conflicts. Amidst the situation there have been movements namely OPM, RMS, Borneo and so on that perhaps threaten the NKRI," Hasyim said. (rif)
