The rector assistant of the Demak's Sultan Fatah University Abdurrahman Kasdi said that NU's legislative candidates should take into account of the importance of moral integrity.
"Let's not hope the NU's hopefuls to involve in negative cases capable of damaging image," said Kasdi at a discussion held by local NU students association at the Pati's NU headquarters over the weekend.<>
The ex-researcher of the Jakarta's Nahdlatul Ulama Institute for Human Resource Study and Development (Lakpesdam NU) cited the rules of nominating NU's cadres in legislative election must be clear.
"So far NU has been like a home that is (always) visited as the election has come. Many legislative candidates have made the best advantage of using such cultural approaches within NU," he said, adding that those being members of the House following the end of election had most of the time forgotten the NU.
Kasdi also said the NU hopefuls in the 2009 election (for instance) should hold talks aimed at "cultivating commitment as well as understanding with NU board members and its institutions."
In the meantime the deputy chairman of the Pati's NU students association Muhammad Syafiq called on the NU cadres to have courage in undertaking such improvization in various fields including politics.
Syafiq also expected the NU cadres to stay committed to the rules of organization and not to be trapped into any pragmatic interest.
While H Ali Munajat of the Pati's NU Branch Board stressed the importance of keeping commitment. "As the cadres whose militancy and care with organization, it's been reasonable enough to think about it. Struggling in whatever channel is not problem as long as they stay committed to organization."
On the sametime Abdul Hamid, secretary of the Pati's NU students Association, called on NU institutions and autonomous bodies to criticize legislative candidates in Pati. (ziz)
