Following the difference of Muslims in celebrating the first day of Idul Fitri, the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) will set up a special team in determining date by sighting of moon especially to fix the beginning and end of fasting period (rukyatul hilal bil fi’li).

The team will be reportedly taught and trained in order to get such required acquisition dealing with the rukyat system. Those who take part in the training will be certified by the country’s largest Muslim organization. They would be also introduced by special devices to sight hilal (moon).

<>“This is NU work,” said the General Chairman of NU KH Hasyim Muzadi, Monday (30/10).

NU would also set up a completely rukyat team consisting of its certified reliable persons, staff from the Department of Religious Affairs, and experts of astronomy. Through the charm measures, the Nahdliyin organization expected the difference would be expectedly minimized.

So far, the NU committee of astrology known as Lajnah Falakiyah NU has not yet set up such technical steps related to the team. (nam)
