The figures like Soekarno, Ali Jinnah, Jawaharlal Nehru were the terrorists in the eye of colonial. Whereas they were the men struggling for their nation's fate which is oppressed and exploited by the western colonialism system. This unfriendly attitude has still been practiced in the world of western colonial in the name of the United Nations, International Court including International Criminal Court (ICC). Any decision they made has always been backgrounded behind economic purposes.<>
You can imagine as Indonesia could liberate East Timor from Portuguese colonization then built the region ranging from infrastructures, modern governance system to the education world. Indonesia was suddenly accused of exploiting and violating human rights there. Ironically Portuguese colonizing the country for hundreds of years and exploiting the nation's wealth has never been accused of doing humanity crimes. All this is due to the fact that the colonial attitudes of the international institutions have still been alive. And after the region reached its independence, the international powers have remained exploiting the region. As a consequence, its economic condition has gotten worse and politically it has increasingly unstable.
This political attitude has possibly backed the International Criminal Court naming the Sudanese President Omar Bashir as a criminal that must soon be detained for being considered to have doing humanity crimes in Daftur. They have never been of the view at all that to defend the nation's unity and security, the government must take firm measures. If not the state will come to an end. Furthermore the president has still come to power so that it is unacceptable to sentence the leader controlling his power as a criminal.
Many leaders from Muslim countries suspected as criminals like the noble man Ayatollah Khomeini, Muammar Qadafi, Saddam Hussein and so forth. While at the same time the colonials did not take the same measures to the leaders having clearly murdered humanity like Simon Peres. When he served as the Israeli prime minister, he brutally oppressed and persecuted the Palestinian people. Instead of being suspected as a criminal or terrorist, he received highest award, namely Nobel Peace Prize in 1994. With his false honorary degree, he confidently founded what called as Peres Center for Peace. As a peace figure, his brutal attitudes was still alive. As a proof of his brutal attitudes when he became Israeli president, Peres ordered his troops to attack Gazans claiming thousands of people's lives and devastating all infrastructures in the country.
Due to the fact, it is understandable if the government of Indonesia proposed to delay executing president Omar Bashir for regarding the importance of pursuit of peace rather than unfair promotion of justice. While Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) firmly asserted that the decision must be reviewed, saying if the data is not accurate the international court would come to a false arrest and make decision based on the false assumption of both data and evidence. What is to say here is that the conflict in Daftur constitutes inter-ethnical conflict that was later fueled by foreign powers to dominate its oil fields. For that reason, NU reiterated any attempt of internationalizing conflict in Daftur that will possibly disturb security in the country and even threaten its leader because all this is a criminal clique.
The NU's stand at least teaches each of us not to directly believe in any information and opinion disseminated through scholarly or political forum including courts whose colonial characters that tend to make decision not based on truth and justice but based on the interest to dominate economic assets, natural resources in the region. The muslim countries, in this regard, should have such independence and the courage in controlling politics and its own economic resources. (Abdul Mun’im DZ)
