The absence of trusteeship is the root of problem

Many strategic institutions managed by smart graduates of the most respected and outstanding universities from within and outside the country have not brought developments and better change. Instead they have brought destruction. The 1998 monetary crisis in this country indicated the fact. Many professors and doctors mandated to control the Central Bank of Republic of Indonesia and hold ministerial posts have, admitted or not, made the nation's monetary and economy collapse. All this is not because of their incapability in dealing with monetary and real economic sectors. Rather they have no longer kept trusteeship (mandate) in properly using the state and people assets. As a result, they have collaborated with brokers in corruption and collusion.<>
At present the United States has experienced a great monetary crisis thought the monetary institutions in the country have been managed by world class outstanding and high qualified managers. The fallacy of management is not because they have known nothing about the theory of good management, but because they have had no power in the face of money. In consequence, they have used the money for their personal and group interest instead of using in for public interest. When their (financial) institution is bankrupt, the managers have even enjoyed bonus and trip package to have party.
The similar scene was also happened in Russia in 1990s when the country met destruction as a result of liberalization which its economic team was no longer be held by executive men of the Soviet era but by the Western graduates controlled by the IMF. In turn those still coming to power (the elites) and especially businessmen have increasingly become rich. In addition to having exploited the Central Bank asset, they have also exploited the state owned enterprises (BUMN) so that this condition will lead the nation's economy to collapse. All this is not because they have no skill, but because they have no sense of trusteeship and honesty.
The moral education is really important to immediately address. Unfortunately it not regarded as the goal of education when the intelligence determined by ranking is one of considerations in valuing the achievement of people. Each student is not taught how to cooperate but he/she is taught to compete. For that reason there is no tradition to study together and what is now existing is the tradition of private study. In turn they can compete individually.
On account of the measure and the goal of education tend to lead to material needs the education itself is the means of work training so that everything outside the work training is ignored. Subjects like philosophy, art, culture including religion tend to be put aside for not being needed in work market. The religious education itself has also been infiltrated by the ideas of materialism. All this will tend to materialize all religious teachings for bussiness interest. As a result the religious education will also expensive. Whereas that religious education has formerly been given freely by sincere teachers for it is part of worship.
