Financing women's economic empowerment program

As part of empowering women's economy, education, and health the Department of Manpower in collaboration with Fatayat NU would pour funds amounted to Rp.200 million to finance the women's economic empowerment program.

To meet the program's goal, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by chief of Dakwa Division of Fatayat NU Nur Nadzifah, S.Ag and chairwoman of the Tegal's Fatayat NU Dra. Hj. Nurhasanah at the oficce of Slawi's NU, Jln. Procot Slawi, Tegal regency Central Java on Monday (7/7).<>

In her speech Nur Nadzifah expected the funds to expectedly be used and developed for productive works.

Nadzifah said that the women were the backbone of the "informal" economy, the ones whose important role in supporting their family economy.

"The women as the second backbone after their husbands in supporting their family economy should be maximized through any productive works either induvidual or group," she said.

Nadzifah added that each Fatayat branch board would receive money amounted Rp.50 million in which for next five years the money should be brought back to the Central Board of Fatayat to then be used by other circles in regions.

The four branch boards of Fatayat NU were form Tegal (Central Java), Indramayu (West Java), South Jakarta and East Jakarta.

While chairwoman of the Tegal's Fatayat NU Nurhasanah told NU Online that she was very happy and felt huge responsibility in both developing and bringing the money back.

"We would alocate the money to Jasmine Fatayat Cooperation that already had some 127 members," she said. (was)
