General Chairman of law making body of National Awakening Party (PKB) KH Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid called on all  caders of PKB not to involve in dissenting opinion with the country’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

Gus Dur expressed the statemen while installing boards of Malang’s PKB at the Islamic boarding “pesantren” school An Nur II, Bululawang on Sunday (25/2).

<<>;font face="Verdana">“I am sure all popemics within both PKB and NU would end. I expect PKB cadres to uphold truth and put aside any forms of denial,” the leader of Pesantren Ciganjur said.

The former leader of nahdliyin organization (NU) explained that there were important things should be considered. First, PKB and NU not to take a stand against hardline Muslims for Islam calls for brotherhood.

“We are permissible to dissenting opinions, but never sacrifice the brotherhood. It means, the PKB followers not to become divide,” the former president of the Republic of Indonesia said.

Gus Dur expected all of the cadres of PKB to empower society and pay more attention to the interest of the people. They need to struggle for the people’s justice and prosperity.

“In fact, many PKB politicians hav no such a firm attitude in handling corruption. Next, the politicians should fight against any corruptions,” Gus Dursaid.
