KH Mustofa Bisri (Gus Mus) was of the opinion that the late KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) was eligible enough to enter the Guinness Book of Records, saying that it's too trivial for merely listing himself in the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).
Gus Mus made the remarks as delivering a sermon at a religious gathering to commemorate the 40 day of the Indonesian former president at Tebuireng Islamic boarding school (Pesantren), Jombang, East Java, on Sunday evening.<>
Gus Mus said, a large number of people visiting the grave of Gus Dur was an unusual first-ever phenomenon in the word, adding that there had so far been no any world figure visited by people exceeding those are visiting the Gus Dur's grave.
Gus Mus said that since the Gus Dur's death on 30 December 2009 till his 40th day there had again and again been a large number of people visiting his grave.
What is important thing to note is that the people have sincerely come to the place where the late buried, Gus Mus said.
"You can imagine what millions of people have come to the Gus Dur's grave to pray for him. Since the Gus Dur's death till his 40th day, Tebuireng has never been sleepy from visitors. So Gus Dur is really eligible to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
Gus Mus also compared Gus Dur with such figures as Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy and Gamal Abdul Naser, saying though they were considered the world figures, their graves had not been visited by people as equal as those having visiting the Gus Dur's grave. (dar)
