Jakarta, NU Online
former general chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that he would stay committed to participating in running the organization of NU for the coming leadership.

Hasyim pledged that he would often, if not always, come to the headquarters of the PBNU as part of his commitment in contributing to the country's largest Muslim organization.<>

"I will not leave PBNU, I will always help," Hasyim said here on Wednesday, adding that he did want people to consider that he just wanted to serve the ummah as long as he served as general chairman of the PBNU.

In his farewell address to all board members and staff of the PBNU, Hasyim said that in addition to taking part in the NU organization, he would also concentrate on his Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) so-called as Al Hikam II located in Depok, West Java.

"I will then focus in Depok. In PBNU, I just want to help, but in terms of the position where I will serve, let other people organize it," Hasyim said.

The former two-term general chairman of the PBNU said that he would not intervene in the new PBNU management. (nam)
