The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama Female Students Association (IPPNU) has held its annual meeting on February 27 to March Ist at the Bekasi's Islamic Center and was attended by general chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi.
Chairwoman of the IPPNU Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah said that the IPPNU meeting was deliberately held four months earlier for urgent and important considerations including the much-awaiting NU 32rd Congress in Makassar next month.<>
"The meeting is aimed at formulating the IPPNU policies both internally and externally which will purposefully be recommended in the congress ahead," she said.
Margaret said, in addition to discussing the recommendation, the NU students organization also took up issues on organizational structures by expectedly establishing such commissariat in schools, pesantren and universities.
"I target the establishment of some 1000 IPPNU commissariats in schools, pesantren and universities," Margaret said.
While, KH Hasyim Muzadi stressed the importance of the organization to concentrate more on the basis of service and charity instead of paying greater attention to the basis of discourse and image.
Hasyim was of the opinion that such organizations as IPNU, IPPNU and the Indonesian Muslim Students Movement (PMII) should again pay their attention to importantly recruiting cadres. (nam)
