Khofifah's "parties" optimistic to win East Java's gubernatorial election

The coalition of twelve political parties supporting the candidacy of Khofifah Indar Parawansa and her running mate Mudjiono expressed here Wednesday its optimism in winning coming East Java's gubernatorial election.

The coalition estimated the candidacy of Khofifah-Mudjiono would expectedly reach at least 25 percent of the total vote.<>

Besides Khofifah-Mudjiono, the former chairman of the East Java's Nadhlatul Ulama (NU), Ali Maschan Moesa, as running mate of incumbent vice governor Soenaryo, Syaifullah Yusuf (Ansor Youth Movement) as running mate of the secretary of the provincial government, Soekarwo, and the influential PDI-P figure Sutjipto, with Ridwan Hisyam, a local Golkar figure, as his running mate would take part in the fierce competition. While Achmady moninated by the People Awakening Party (PKB) has so far yet to decide his running mate.

Present at the Jakarta's meeting were Vice General Chairman of the Indonesian United Development Party (PPP) Chozin Chumaidi, General Chairman of the Indonesian Justice and Union, Meutia Hatta, General Chairman of the Reform Star Party Bursah Zarnubi, and General Chairman of the Indonesian Bull National Party Erros Djarot and General Chairman of the Social Democratic Labor Party Muchtar Pakpahan.
