The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) is expectedly able to take part in bridging all conflicting paties either in dealing with the internal political problems among Nahdliyin (NU followers) or in dealing with any possible international Islam politics.

Secretary of lawmaking body of PBNU KH Nazaruddin Umar made the remarks here on Monday, adding that the country's largest Muslim organization had so far helped seek solutions for such problems.<>

"Not only has the PBNU been capable of handling domestic problems, it has also been such a moderator for international problems," he said, adding that the mediating role could also be played by NU in addressing conflicts in the National Awakening Party (PKB).

The director-general of the Islamic Mass Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs said that PBNU was very open to help reconcile any existing conflict including that has occurred among the Nahdliyin.

"Since the conflict emerges, NU will really be very open. Instead of addressing problems facing both NU and PKB, the problems related to the ummah, (for instance) NU is always ready to be moderator because it is the character of NU," Nazaruddin Umar said. (min)
