The fate of the National Awakening Party (PKB) will fully be turned over to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU). The PKB located on Jl. Kalibata will not ask for prerequisites for reconciliation other than expecting the honor of KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) to be returned as general chairman of the advisory board of the party.
Secretary general of PKB (the outcome of Extraordinary Congress in Parung)Zannuba Arifah Chafsoh (Yenny) made the remarks after her meeting with general chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi at the PBNU headquarters, Jl. Kramat Raya 164 Jakarta on Wednesday.<>
"In principle we will abide by the PBNU. We do welcome any initiative from both cultural and structural NU figures in terms of the discourse of reconciliation," Yenny told reporters.
As for Yenny, the the country's largest Muslim organization could facilitate a meeting aimed at reconciling between the two conflicting parties by inviting all of the PKB stakeholders to discuss the fate of the party.
Asked about a possible discourse for establishing a new political party initiated by PKB Kalibata, Yenny diplomatically answered that "in principle, NU is in need of a party for channeling its (individuals') aspiration." (min)
