The fifteenth congress of Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU), held in Asrama Haji Pondok Gede Jakarta on 9-11 June is likely a great moment. Some raising names are likely ready to lead IPNU for coming three years to deputize for Mujtahidur “Edo” Ridho, the recent general chairman of IPNU.

Edo said there were names will run “presidential” elections such as Idy Muzayyad, Dedy Aril Sandi, Fery Cokro, Ahmad Wai. All of them are involved in the Central Board of IPNU. There is also a regional candidate, as a former of East Java’s Regional Board of IPNU, Nur Hidayat.

“As for me, whoever wins, it is the same. The important thing is all processes can be conducted fairly and uphold amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, and maintain our tradition and norms,” Edo said.

Some candidates have actively sought support since several months ago. They have also actively went visiting to many branches or regions and organized such an agenda to strengthen their existence.

Different from any other NU autonomous bodies, for the position is as a NU cadre, IPNU’s general chairman just has one period of time in the post. Dealing the congress IPNU XIV, held in Surabaya in 2003, it decided to limit the age of IPNU’s board maximal by 30 years old than previously 35 years.

The organizing committee in the secretarial office in PBNU Building 2nd floor has looked so busy to make the three-year agenda successful. PP IPNU will also conduct final plenary session on Thursday (29/60 in PBNU. (MKF)
