Jakarta, NU Online
Facing Eid al-Adha 1442 H on July 20, 2021, the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) urged Nahdliyin (NU members) to convert funds to buy sacrificial animals or kurban to help residents affected by Covid-19.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on society, especially the emergence of socio-economic problems. Therefore, PBNU urges Nahdliyin, who has the financial ability to donate funds to buy animals to help people affected by Covid-19," as mentioned in the PBNU circular letter Number 5 point C, received by NU Online, on Wednesday, July 14.

Even so, PBNU still welcomes NU members who can donate to help residents affected by Covid-19 and can buy sacrificial animals to do both.

"Nahdliyin who can donate to help to overcome the impact of Covid-19 and also have the ability to carry out kurban are welcome to carry out both," PBNU added.

PBNU also welcomes NU members to carry out takbiran (recital of Allahu Akbar) in mosques and prayer rooms (mushala) by implementing strict health protocols. And it is carried out in safe from Covid-19 (green zones) areas, declared by the local government and the local Covid-19 Handling Task Force.

Meanwhile, for areas belonging to Enforcement of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) or unsafe from Covid-19 regions (red, orange, yellow zones), the takbiran is carried out with the nuclear family in respective homes, not in the mosque or prayer room.

PBNU also urges  Nahdliyin, who stays in the unsafe from Covid-19 area, to carry out Eid prayers at their respective homes with their families. Meanwhile, those in the green zone are welcome to carry out Eid prayers in mosques and mushala by applying strict health protocols.

The following is the full text of the PBNU's appeal regarding the implementation of the Eid al-Adha prayer 1442 H contained in Circular Letter Number 5 Point B:

"In areas that are declared safe from Covid-19 (green zones) by the local government and the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, they can carry out the Eid al-Adha prayer 1442 H in mosques/ mushala by implementing strict and disciplined health protocols. As for the areas designated to be in the Emergency PPKM, or areas that are declared unsafe from Covid-19 (red zone, orange zone, yellow zone), the Eid al-Adha prayer 1442 H will not be held in the mosque/mushala, or in the field."

This Circular was issued in Jakarta, on 28 Dzulqa'dah 1442 H or July 9, 2021 H. This letter was signed by NU Supreme Leader (Rais Aam) KH Miftachul Akhyar, Supreme Council Secretary-General (Katib Aam) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, General Chairman KH Said Aqil Siroj, and Secretary-General H Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zaini.
