The leader of Langitan Islamic boarding school (pesantren) KH Ubaidillah Faqih, popularly known as Kiai Ubaid, said that educational institutions such as pesantren madrassa (Islamic schools), public schools were in need of leaders littered fully with inspirational motivation.

"Pesantren and other (Islamic) educational institution have to pay attention to the importance of leadership which emphasizes inspirational motivation in addition to having the power of religious spirituality," Kiai Ubaid told NU Online here recently.

According to the eldest son of the late KH Abdullah Faqih leaders including those engaged in educational activities such as teachers and educational practitioners must be able to control themselves before being taking control of others.

He reiterated that both leaders and teachers should also consider having intellectual stimulation and charisma that could be seen from their personal qualities and effect upon their followers.

"The personal qualities are, among others, responsibility, honesty and integrity including how they could show respect for others, have caring and concern, take care of others," he said. (Masdar)
