South Tangerang, NU Online
Member of the Supreme Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Maimoen Zubair, popularly known as Mbah Moen, said that August was a special month for Muslims because in that month Muhammad was sent to be a prophet and the last apostle. In addition, August is also a special month for the nation of Indonesia because in the same month Indonesia declared its independence.

"When was the Prophet first sent? August. Same. When is the proclamation (of Indonesian independence)? in August," said Mbah Moen while giving a speech in a joint prayer held by the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board of South Tangerang at the South Tangerang Police headquarters on Monday (6/11).

According to the NU prominent cleric, the Arabs used the moon to determine dates, months, and years. Meanwhile, Indonesia used the sun. Uniquely, if calculated then the date Muhammad was sent and Indonesian independence was the same but different.

"The first time the Prophet was sent in August  (Ramadan 17th). The Indonesian nation became independent on August 17th (Ramadhan 8th). (Both are) different but are the same, (both are) the same but but different," he explained.

"If we commemorate August (Indonesian independence), it is the same as commemorating the moth the prophet was sent," he continued.

October

Mbah Moen said Hadratussyekh KH Hasyim Asy'ari issued the so-called Resolusi Jihad (Jihad Resolution) on October 22nd. Finally, this date was set by the government to National Santri Day which was celebrated with great reverence by the santri.

"Indonesians celebrate the October 22nd Jihad Resolution and finally the November 10th is declared as the National Heroes Day," he said.

While in October also, Mbah Moen added, Prophet Muhammad for the first time arrived in Madinah to emigrate. On the first day of October Prophet Muhammad built the Quba Mosque, and then reached Medina in mid-October.

"The Prophet emigrated in September, in October (the Prophet arrived) in Medina ," he said. (Masdar)
