LFNU announces Shafar falls on Wednesday

The Nahdlatul Ulama Falakiyah Committee (LFNU) announced that the beginning of the Shafar 1440 Hijriyah fell on Wednesday (10/10). The LFNU's announcement was based on a rukyah (moon sighting) carried out on Tuesday (9/10), 29 Muharram 1440 H.

HM Inwanuddin and Faisol Amin representing the LFNU team of the Gesik chapter of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) could see the new moon at Balai Rukyah Condrodipo, Gresik, East Java.

The height of hilal at the time of rukyah was in 2 degrees 46 minutes 20 seconds. The height has met the criteria of the so-called imkanur rukyah, which is two degrees. Hilal was seen at 5:25 p.m., while sunset, Maghrib, occurred at 5:23 p.m.

Chairman of the LFNU KH Ahmad Ghazalie Masroeri expressed his gratitude to especially Nahdliyin in Gresik for being able to see the new moon marking the beginning of Shafar.

The activity was held on the 29th of the Hijri month in the month of Muharram, the LFNU based on the results of the rukyat issued a statement that 1 Muharram 1440 Hijriyah had fallen on Tuesday (11/9). (Syakir NF/Masdar)
