NU chairman encourages NU universities and pesantren to strengthen scientific research

The General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siroj encouraged universities and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) within NU to strengthen various scientific research. On this stand, Nahdliyin (NU memebrs) will be more advanced in the development of science and technology.

 

"Strengthen community service so that NU is always present, alive, and always serving the community, and most importantly we must always be optimistic and never give up on the situation," Kiai Said said virtually at the 1st Muharram commemoration held by the Islamic University of Malang (Unisma). ) on Monday (9/8/2021).

 

The leader of the Luhur Al Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School, Ciganjur, South Jakarta, added that in this  digital era, NU members must be able to become leaders in digital transformation. As a large community, it is hoped that NU could also become a strong, independent, sovereign, and highly competitive ecosystem. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the strengthening of organization and its members with brotherly values.

 

"Immediately accelerate taqwiyatul jamiyah wal jamaah and ukhuwah diniyah Islamiyah, ukhuwah wathaniyah, ukhuwah insaniyah, alamiyah. Let's strengthen the processing and utilization of the potential of biological resources around us as a means of economic revival, health, and creative industries for the advancement of life," he said.

 

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation and in facing the challenges of the times, Kiai Said also hoped that all Nahdliyin would increase their vigilance and not be afraid or panicked excessively.

 

"God willing, our immunity will be stronger and we will live in a safe situation. Because panic is half the disease, calm is half the medicine, and patience is the beginning of healing," Kiai Said said.

 

Previously, KH Said Aqil Siroj asked Nahdliyin and the entire network of NU organizations at all levels to immediately improve themselves by filling all the empty spaces of people's life.

 

"Immediately fill all the empty spaces of community, national and state life with NU traditional values, spirit and treasures," Kiai Said said..

 

Strategic roles in social life, education, economy, culture, politics, science and technology, and security must also be immediately taken over by Nahdliyin or NU board membersThis could be done while trying to strengthen the religious symbols of Indonesian Islam in a friendly, peaceful, and tolerant way both online and offline.

 

On the same occasion, Secretary General of PBNU H Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zaini advised Nahdliyin to be part of realizing a friendly, not angry Islam. He also hoped that Nahdliyin could be consistent in shaping and producing Islamic preaching littered fully fully with peace messages.

 

"Let's be an important part of realizing Islamic preaching that embraces, not hits. Let's in the message of Muharram we always share by giving charity to others. Let us continue to build and unite friendship to always strengthen the brotherhood between us all," Helmy said.
