Quoting Rais Akbar's statement, Gus Mus calls on Nahdliyin to avoid disputes

The Supreme Leader (Rais Aam) of the country's largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Mustofa Bisri gave an opnening speech at the Opering Ceremony of the NU 33rd congress (muktamar) in the Jombang square that was attended by President Joko Widodo on Saturday (1/8) night.<>

KH Mustafa Bisri, popularly known as Gus Mus, said that the conference was very special because it is held in the month of Shawwal, tenth month of the Islamic Calendar and in August.

Shawwal is a period when Muslims are delighted to celebrate the Eid Fitr holiday and further cultivate relationships, especially between Muslims in the so-called halal bi halal gatherings to share their apologies each other as a typical long-standing tradition of Islam Nusantara.

"We also enter the month of August and will soon be commemorating the (Indonesian) 70th independence. May all components of the nation were given guidance in order to keep maintaining the national unity in achieving the ideals of so-called baldatun thoyyibatun wa robbun ghofur," Gus Mus said.

At the end of his speech, Gus Mus quoting some messages of Rais Akbar Hadratus Shaikh KH Hasyim Asy'ari when delivering the Eid (Fitr) sermon in 1357 H. The essence of the Rais Akbar's  message is to call for the importance of NU elements to keep maintaining unity and avoid any possible disputes.

"We are expecting the members of the organization (jam'iyyah) of NU to keep maintaining cohesiveness of the soul and avoid any possible disputes, which lead to the failure and defeat," Gus Mus said, adding that "Nahdliyin (NU members) and Indonesia are in need of our best service (khidmah)."
