KH Hasyim Muzadi,General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Indonesia`s largest Islamic organization, said the Nation`s Awakening Party (PKB) should settle its internal conflict soon in view of the general elections in 2009.

"PKB had better abide by the legally binding court verdict and not make a fuss any longer," Muzadi said after opening a national conference of Fatayat (NU`s women organization) here Thursday (21/8).<>

Actually it was PKB itself which had sought to resolve its internal conflict through a legal process but the strange thing was that when the court verdict was issued, PKB still continued to make a fuss, Muzadi said.

In the meantime, Yenni Abdurrahman Wahid, secretary general of the Ali Masykur Musa-led PKB, the pro Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid camp, party said her side had filed a legal suit with the State Administrative Court (PTUN) to reverse the court verdict favoring the Muhaimin Iskandar-led PKB.

Yenni, who is also a daughter of Abdurrahman Wahid, said further that previously PKB always took decisions on important matters including the registration of would-be legislators through consultative meetings of its legislative body led by Gus Dur, and through plenary sessions.

But recent facts showed that Gus Dur as the highest mandate holding figure in PKB`s executive board was bypassed.

"I wonder why the central office the General Election Commisssion (KPU) let Muhaimin win (in the conflict)," she added. (ant/dar)
