Blitar's NU holds a training for NU legislative hopefuls

Ahead of the 2009 election the Blitar's NU Branch Board (PCNU) in the collaboration with the Blitar's Lakpesdam NU held a training for legislative hopefuls from NU at the PCNU's office on Sunday (25/1).

The materials took up at the purposeful forum were the concept of Islam politics (fiqhus Siyasah) that was delivered by KH Farhan Ma'ruf (secretary of Syuriyah of the PCNU), the main tasks of faction, legislative drafting and budgeting that was delivered by Aminuddin Fahruda from SOMASI and is also a member of the PCNU's Research and Development Board.&<>lt;br />
The material in regard with public opinion was delivered by the ex-editor-in-chief at Jawa Pos daily Arif Afandi who is also deputy mayor of Surabaya. While tausiyah (sermon) was delivered by KH Nurhidayatullah Dawami who is also chairman of executive board of the PCNU.

The forum was attended by some 50 legislative candidates from political parties such as the National Awakening Party (PKB), the National Ulema Awakening Party (PKNU), the United Development Party (PPP), the Democratic Party, and so on.

In the meantime, the chairman of Syuriyah of the PCNU KH Agus Muazin asserted that in the 2009 election, the Blitar's PCNU would not be anywhere but be present everywhere and would not be side with certain party.

He also called on Nahdliyin (NU followers) in particular and people in general not to abstain from voting (golput).

"With the golput it means we have cut one of democratic pillars of ours," he said, adding that as part of democracy and the existence of legislative election that is a part of what called as trias politika the people should use their voting rights.

KH Agus Muazin expected those who are elected as legislative members to pay attention to the mission and the interest of NU.

The NU neutrality of not tending to certain parties was also asserted by KH Nurhidayatullah as giving a sermon that the NU cadres could be take part in political arena through their own political organization. (mad)
