Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez accused some media organizations, which hide behind the freedom of expression to spread fear among the people, of carrying out media terrorism.
In recent days, some crazy people from radio stations and newspapers run by the oligarchy and some sectors that do not want changes in the country are trying to spread panic among citizens, the Venezuelan president said.<>
He explained that Venezuela is moving forward to a socialism that is fresh, Bolivarian and democratic, and rejected the ghosts spread by some media organizations to terrify the community.
Chavez spoke on Friday at an event to decorate Peace Noble Prizewinner Muhammad Yunus, of Bangladesh, with the Simon Bolivar Order.
The president warned that humankind is threatened by poverty and the destruction of the environment, and wondered why the rich do not understand the need for a poverty-free world.
He noted that "only that way we will have a world of justice and peace" and denounced those who think that violence can be fought with bombs and invasions.
This is crazy, violence generates violence and Iraq is the best example, Chavez stressed. (pl/dar)
