Jakarta, NU Online
General Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) Mujtahidur “Edo” Ridho expected government not to make three-day national examination (UN) as a fixed price.

“Never make UN as a fixed price in determining students’ passing, but their other capacities, say that competence/skill or learning process as long as three years of study, that should also be a consideration. In this case, or course school council and teachers have served as well-informed sources,” Ridho told NU Online, Wednesday (28/6).

From the beginning when National Final Examination (UAN) has come into existence, IPNU has rejected this concept. At present discussion about UN, according to Edo constitutes an unfinished solution related to the implementation of UN.

“More over the government has no consistent with its policy. Last year there was a repetition of exam, but now nothing,” he said.

Evaluation in the final grade is necessary to support students’ diligence to study. However, this should consider their capacity. “What do they want to be if the passing just determined during three days. This will stimulate them to be instant generation. They will quickly study during exam because the previous process was disregarded,” he added.

UN standard score by at least 4.25 was regarded as an unrealistic due to the structure and infrastructure, possessed by each school that was not the same. Consequently, the final results were of course different.

“Of course it is an injustice if Papuan students compared to Jakarta’s dealing with their standard and process of evaluation, whereas their structure and infrastructure are really different,” he said.

At present the most important thing, according to Edo, is on how the government handle bright students’ problems who failed this year’s exam, for some of them have been admitted at state universities. Many have expected the government to conduct the repetition of the exam.

“Recently Controversy over UN has just come into existence. Hopefully the government looks at EBTA or Ebtanas, conducted several years ago without raising public unrest,” Edo added. (mkf)
