Hasyim to be speaker at international forum

Secretary General of the International Conference  of Islamic Scholars (ICIS), KH Hasyim Muzadi flied  to Hungary and the Czech Republic to be a  speaker at an international dialogue forum on Sunday.

Former general chairman of the Central Board of  Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) is scheduled to be  speaker at the forum taking up issues on the role  of religious communities in promoting tolerance,  understanding and peace: recognizing common  concerns on May, 25.r />
On May 27, the leader of Al Hikam Islamic boarding  school will be continuing his activities in the City of  Prague, the Czech Republic to attend another  forum discussing issues on "Promoting Harmony  Among Civilization in the pluralistic Society.
"

"That's all right, I was asked to be speaker at the  two forums in the two countries," said Hasyim  before heading to Hungary and the Czech  Republic, on Sunday.

He said that these activities were held in order to  expand the moderate movements in addition to  dismissing various negative views related to the  relationship between Islam and the West over the  years.

"This forum will also discuss the importance of  creating mutual understanding between religion  and culture, and to promote understanding   through education," Hasyim said.

At the forum, Hasyim who is also the president of  the World Conference on Religions for Peace  (WCRP) will also talk about the relationship  between Islam and the state in the country.

"Indonesia is not an Islamic state, but the  teachings of Islam have become the norm values  of the national life," he said. (mkf)
