The 3rd International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS) will focus more on the topic of peace-building and conflict prevention.

General Secretary of the ICIS KH Hasyim Muzadi said that conflicts in the Muslim world would be elaborated objectively.<>

"Whatever causing the conflict; are there linkages on each conflict and is there global intervention in the conflict. All this would be elaborated though there is no more time. But at least there would be an objective and comprehensive feature dealing with the conflict especially in the Muslim world," Hasyim said here on Tuesday (29/7).

Hasyim who is also general chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) said the conference would be divided into some sessions including keynote speeches and intensive discussions in each session.

Hasyim said that the conference would discuss conflicts "in Darfur, Libanon, Palestine, Thailand, and Afghanistan".

"Those involved in the discussions are the ones involving themselves in conflict, researchers, ulema and bussinesmen whose moral and political responsibility dealt with the conflict," Hasyim added. (nam)
