Ida Fauziyah was finally elected as chairwoman of Fatayat NU for the period 2010-2015 at the 16th congress of the NU young women organization at the Pondok Gede's Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, early this morning (5 / 7). Ida was elected in the second round of casting the vote.
In the first round there were several passing candidate names, among others, Ida Fauziah (260 votes), Umm Chusnul Khotimah (87), Queen Dian Hatifah (22), and Neng Dara (13). The race was then continued to the second round by including only the top two candi<>dates.
In the second round, Ida won the race convincingly, securing 266 votes and ousting her contender Ummi who obtained 117 votes.
Ida Fauziyah has so far been active in the National Awakening Party (PKB). She ever served as chairwoman for women affairs of the party and functionary of the DPP PKB. Ida has currently served as the House member from the PKB for a third time.
Related to the Ida's position in the party, deputy secretary general of PKB Luluk Nur Hamidah said that Ida was no longer the party's functionary.
"He has officially come out from the PKB," she was quoted by the party's website as saying.
Ida recently told NU Online that she had long time been active in the NU organizations since the most basic level. He vowed to bring Fatayat NU as a women movement organization and NU women cadres organization which is independent and able to give its best services and advocacy for women.
Ida said that she would be determined to implement all work programs as part of the organizational mandate in all parts of Indonesia, as expected by Fatayat NUs in all regions in the country. "I will make greater use of my networking and experience to promote Fatayat NU as optimal as possible," she said. (min/nam)
