Lapindo victims to send delegation to Bali's climate change conference

Victims of the mudflow of Lapindo Brantas Inc. in Sidoarjo will send a two-member delegation to the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC) to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali from December 3 to 14, 2007.
The two mudflow victims will convey the aspirations of their fellow victims on damage of their environment in the past 1.5 years.<>
Chairman of the Renokenongo mudflow victims association Sunarto said at the Pasar Baru refugee camp in Porong on Thursday that "we wish the international community to know about our suffering."
The two delegates also planned to make efforts to have the verdict issued by the Central Jakarta District Court two days ago on their case against Lapindo Brantas, which was in favor of the company, reviewed.
He also has plans to meet the International Court of Justice in The Hague, The Netherlands, to fight for the rights of the Lapindo Brantas mudflow victims.
He was quoted by Antara as saying that the administrative requirements had already been met, but the financial support from the sponsors or indivicuals are still being awaited, to enable him to go to The Hague. (dar)
