Leader appreciates talents, high spirit of high school students

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday appreciated the lively spirit, talents and self-confidence of Iranian high school students.

In a meeting with thousands of sympathetic high school students, the Supreme Leader said that in the current period of history when our great nation has hoisted the banner of morality and launched a momentous movement toward the heights of scientific progress and welfare, the young generation should fulfill their heavy responsibility.<>

The Supreme Leader said that Iranian young generation have a record of fulfilling responsibility, citing their campaign against the tyrannical regime of Shah "which did not give a chance to the youth to display their talents, thus causing backwardness of the nation."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that great personalities preached the youth and led them to awareness in the run-up to victory of the Islamic Revolution after which the late Imam Khomeini managed to bring about a dramatic change in the attitude of the young generation and the entire Iranian community.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Western community is longing for morality, but, their ruling systems are hampering the movement toward morality.

"The Iranian nation is standard bearer of morality and has proved that morality can lead to welfare, happiness, progress and independence," he said.

The Supreme Leader said that the world's big powers are throwing obstacles in the way of economic progress of the Iranian nation, but, the great nation is going ahead with progress thanks to its strong resolve.

The Supreme Leader advised the youth to boost their morality with special attention to prayers, sports and education.

Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the youth to get closer to God Almighty. (irn/dar)
