"So far there have no been any children of Nahdliyin studying in NU schools for possibly not being of proud of their schools," Suroto said on the sidelines of a seminar taking up issues on how to deal with the management of NU education to address the need of high-quality schools at Miftachul Ulum Islamic boarding school (pesantren), Wirongso, Ajung, Jember, East Java on Thursday.

Suroto said that what having so far emerged in the era of ours were plus schools for just giving additional hours of study like giving English for Islamic junior high schools and Arabic and computer of junior high schools.

"But effective schools are much more complete than the plus ones," Suroto said, adding that NU effective schools should always take into account of the importance of both maintaining and preserving the characteristics of NU.

He asserted that initiating the schools was not easy for being in need of adequate facilities and infrastructures and of course high-skilled individuals, saying everything could be realized since there's a willingness to work hard.

"The most important is we have willingness, in regard with human resources e have many experts in education," he said.

Meanwhile Hobri who is a lecturer at the Jember State University said that NU schools, admitted or not, had had adequate capitals to address the realization of the purposeful schools.

In addition to paying attention to good facilities and administration, Hobri said, the effective schools should also have such "proudable things as art reciting the Holy Qur'an, classical books and many other things that could be the pride and the characteristic of NU schools." (ary)
