Nahdliyin in UK holds religious gathering

Nahdliyin (NU followers) in the United Kingdom (UK) groupped under the Special Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) of UK held a religious gathering at the Colindel's Indonesia Islamic Center, London on Sunday.

In addition to cultivating and strengthening interpersonal relationships, the gathering was also aimed at introducing a new body so-called as Muslimat NU of UK.<<>br />
The gathering was preceded by a NU long-standing tradition, namely the recitation of tahlil led by former chairman of PCINU Muhammad Faqih and followed by all Nahdliyin who are from such cities as Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham, Colchester, Sheffield, Guilford and London.

Not only did they recite the tahlil which is widely and popularly considered a characteristic of NU, the Nahdliyin also got valuable reports from the NU 32nd congress in Makassar recently.

As reported by NU Online the Makassar's congress was also attended by all special branch boards around the world including UK and those representing the PCINU of UK were Surya Murtiadi and Hj. Afrahul Fadhilah.

The presence of Muhammad Faqih in Britain is to attend the final presentation of a student studying at the University of Newcastle.

Present also at the occasion were chairman of PCINU of UK Hadi Susanto who is also a lecturer at the Nottingham University and NU senior figure of UK Royandi Abbas who is also adviser of Muslimat NU of UK. (syf)
