Indonesia’s educational researcher Mochtar Buchori said here on Wednesday (01/11) that the national educational policy of ours is now unclear, basing itself on technical matters. It has not addressed substantial ones yet. This would in turn produce new generations having no such favorable perception in terms of nation’s problems.

“That’s why, we need teachers having capabilities in educating the new generations through the new paradigm,” Buchori said.

<>The former Rector of Muhammadiyah Institute of Teaching and Education of Jakarta explained that there are two important things to improve our national education. First, enhancing the quality of teachers. Second, there should be both rationalization and modernization of curriculum.

According to Buchori, the government has not so far implemented the purposeful points. When the government has previously deliberated the bill on teachers and lecturers, there have been likely expectations respecting the improvement of the quality of education following the proper salary and social welfare guarantees.

“When the promises have not fully implemented, the people have also forgotten to the importance of quality advancements,” he added. (kom/dar)
