Indonesia should be rebuilt with three pillars, namely science, faith and moral. General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siradj (Kang Said) made the remarks at a religious gathering at Al Iman Islamic boarding school (pesantren), Bulus Gebang Purworejo over the weekend.

According to Said Kang, if individuals having no acquisition of knowledge are mandated to lead a country, it will certainly come to destruction. />
Kang Said stressed the importance of leaders to take into account of the three pillars in dealing with the nation, saying the three were a must for those willing to improve the condition of the nation.

As for Kang Said, to avoid any negative practices "such as corruption and others, the need for faith and strong religious teachings" should be met in addition to having acquisition of knowledge.

"The success of Walisongo (nine saints) in spreading Islam in this country without bloody conflicts is because they use akhlakul karimah," Kang Said said.

Meanwhile, as reported by NU Online's Ahmadnaufa Khoirul Faizun, the leader of Al-Iman pesantren KH Hasan Agil Ba'bud Bulus said that his pesantren had so far introduced both formal and salafi systems, adding the two systems were designed to address the need of community.

"The have been many alumni here who are ready to become leaders, civil servants, police and even armed forces for already being introduced with strong re religious knowledge," he said. (nam)
