NU institutions start formulating work programs

After being inaugurated a week ago, several institutions of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) have held meetings to formuate work programs as part of implementing any decision made in the Makassar's 32nd conference several months ago.

The institutions having so far held meetings at the PBNU headquarters are NU Economic Institution, NU Preaching Institution, Lajnah Ta'lif wan Nasr (center for research and development) of NU, and Indonesian Mosque Management Board. />
Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Management Institution KH Abdul Manan explained that his institution had arranged strategic plans for the coming five years such as initiating mosque-based business and economic communities, social access, developing mosque-based Islamic arts and cultures, training preachers and so on.

"We will immediately socialize the adjustment of the qibla direction in collaboration with jurists, astronomers and geologists," he told NU Online here on Wednesday.

Separately chairman of PBNU Prof Dr Maksud also told the NU news portal that the NU Agricultural Development Institute "is now holding a work meeting in South Jakarta".

While the Lajnah Ta'lif wan Nasr also held a meeting at the Jakarta's Sofyan Hotel on Wednesday, formulating programs, among other things are translating and publishing Arabic works written by Islamic scholars (ulema). (mkf)
