General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi said that inter-religious dialogue was very important to create both togetherness and brotherhood. The dialogue, he added, was aimed at avoiding any suspicions among religious adherents.

According to Hasyim, there had lately been many religious-nuanced conflicts. Whereas the conflicts were nothing to do with certain religion.<>

“There have been some conflicts created by religious communities, but they are not caused by religious issues,” said Hasyim before 40 Catholic priests across Indonesia coming to the the PBNU headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (16/5), adding that the conflicts were created as if they were religious ones.

The President of World Conference on Religions for Peace further said the sustainable inter-religious dialogue must be boosted to deal with religious understanding and conviction among adherents. (rif)
