The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) warned the elites of the National Awakening Party (PKB) to soon end its internal conflict and obey any legal decision.

General Chairman of the PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi made the remarks following the ongoing rift in the party here on Tuesday (19/8).<>

Hasyim expected the chairman of the PKB Muhaimin Iskandar to immediately improve its internal problems.

Hasyim told Muhaimin that the PKB should sincerely carry out a mandate as one of political parties representing most NU followers (Nahdliyin) without ignoring people's mandate of course.

He also said that his deep concern was a fact that NU followers (Nahdliyin) are main constituents for the party. On account of the dispute was within NU community, he added, admitted or not, it would give little impact.

Formerly Hasyim had reminded Muhaimin of the importance of paying more attention to the clerics and ulemas-initiated party for their sincere services to the ummat. All PKB cadres, he said, should work for the sake of the ummat.

He also criticized the attitude of a number of NU politicians in the party. He said the politicians were in need of NU involvement when they were in conflict.

"They come to the PBNU because of conflict. If there's nothing they forget. They have no such care about NU," Hasyim said.

Most of the PKB politicians, Hasyim said, had thought about their own interest. As long as their interest were "on the right track", they tended to pay no attention to NU. (rif)
