He made the statement at a prayer service organized by the central executive board of United Development Party (PPP) for the victims of the Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound aid ships on Monday.
Fardiz said what was done by the 12 Indonesian volunteers and their other colleagues to carry humanitarian aids on board the Mavi Marmara ship was an extraordinary support for the Palestinian people.
He said the presence of 12 Indonesian volunteers on board the Mavi Marmara represented millions of Indonesian people who would like to support their brothers and sisters in Palestine.
"We give our highest possible appreciation to the 12 Indonesian volunteers for their spirit of struggle to help and support the Palestinian people," Faridz said as quoted by Antara.
He added that as part of Palestinian government`s appreciation to the 12 Indonesian volunteers, they would be allowed to become citizens of Palestine any time they wanted to.
Faridz on the occasion also commended the United Development Party`s stance to give its support and attention to the people of Palestine.
"What has been said by the leader of PPP reflects the attitude of the Indonesian people who have high solidarity for the people of Palestine," he said, admitting that Palestine was a small country being oppressed by a foreign country.
He said the government and people of Palestine learned a lot from Indonesia because although it used to be colonized for hundreds of years, it had gained its independence and become one of leading democratic countries in the world.
Accordint to him, hundreds of Palestinian youths come to Indonesia to study.
"Palestine is in need of support from Indonesia in various fields, especially politics and democracy," Faridz said.
Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Suryadharma Ali said the party would give its biggest possible assistance to Palestine to enable it to gain independence.
"Hopefully in the near future Palestine can become an independent and sovereign country," Suryadharma said. (dar)
