The plenary session conducted by the board members of Islamic Boarding ”Pesantren” School Association (RMI), one of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) autonomous bodies decided on Wednesday (30/8) to send 800 preachers to less populated regions.

They are purposefully expected to preach in the regions for at least a year. “We would be in cooperation with local pesantrens in the regions to fulfill necessities both accommodation and consumption,” said vice chairman of the RMI, H. Abdul Adhim Susandi.

<>The program carried out by RMI in collaboration with the State Minister of Manpower and Transmigration is to give religious teachings to people living in the areas. The NU autonomous body will implement such styles as implemented by the Pesantren Sidogiri, Pasuruan for over 25 years.

To develop syaria-based cooperation, the RMI has also paid more attention to such efforts of increasing economic capacity in order to support pesantren’s economy and social surroundings. (mkf)
