Two competing wings of the National Awakening Party (PKB) - one formed during the Parung, Bogor, conference and another at the Ancol, Jakarta, conference - plan to reconcile their differences to maximize votes in general elections in 2014.
PKB-Ancol secretary-general Lukman Edy said the reconciliation was expected to keep the PKB in parliament if the plan to increase the threshold to 5 percent to win seats was pushed through.r />
The 2009 general elections implemented a 2.5 percent parliamentary threshold. The PKB won 4.85 percent votes in 2009.
"Given current conditions and challenges in the future, gaining 3 percent will be difficult, let alone 5 percent," Lukman was quoted as saying by Antara news agency. (dar)
