Vice President Boediono is expected to launch a commemorative stamp of the 23rd National Qur`an Recital Contest (MTQN) at the event`s closing on Saturday (June 12).

"We are trying to include the stamp launching in the program of the MTQN closing ceremony. But so far there is no confirmation from the vice president`s protocol offices," Ali Berti, head of the Bengkulu communication and information office, said here Friday.r />
Boediono is slated to officially close the MTQN on Saturday evening. If he has no time to launch the stamp, Communication and Informatics Minister Tifatul Sembiring will do it, Ali Berti said.

The new stamp depicts a picture of Al Qur`an on one side, and a picture of Bengkulu Governor Agusrin Najamudin and his wife Diah Nurwiyanti, on the other side.

At the opening of the MTQN last Saturday (June 6), President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called on all Muslims in the country to keep telling the world that Islam is peaceful.

He said Muslims also love justice, shun violence and reject hatred and slander.
He said Islam also called for unity and togetherness. "By putting forward those values, God willing, we will be able to build strong tolerance, solidarity and cohesion among men on earth," he said before around 2,000 participants of the MTQ from 33 provinces in the country.

Indonesia must become a nation that loves peace, holds noble values of civilization and respects harmony in the midst of pluralism, he said.

"We wish to build unity. We wish our country remain intact and united. We also wish to make Indonesia prosper, democratic and just," he said.

Indonesia first held its national MTQ in 1988 and this year`s 23rd national MTQ lasted from June 5 to 12. (ant/dar)
