Yogyakarta's Fatayat NU conducts skill Training

Yogyakarta’s Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama Young Women Organization (Fatayat NU) conducted skill training (Training of Trainer/TOT) for women volunteers to give assistance to the Saturday’s victims. The activity was aimed at training the volunteers in assisting the victims to heal trauma as a result of the disaster.

The training was conducted in Islamic “Ponpes” Boarding School Mlangi Timur, Sleman (Rabu/21). The three-hour activity was attended by 30 Fatayat and IPPNU’s volunteers from 5 regencies, namely Yogyakarta, Sleman, Kulonprogo, Bantul, and Gunungkidul.

The given purposefully materials were assisting and maintaining children’ soul by using such a reframing method. The method is used to return their safely and comfortably condition without any problem, and even to obtain new useful meaning upon the disaster.   

Coordinator of the social act, Iis Cholisoh said the 30 volunteers following the training have their own expected region of the earthquake hit places. The assistance addressed to the school age vistims, according to Cholisoh, was not only by moving their formally school to the emergency one, but also by  conducting trauma healing.
 
”The assistance to the children is not the same as assistance to the children in general. That is why we carry out such a training in cooperation with Book Monster, the foundation led by Mbak Lissa (Alisa Qathrun Nada, Gus Dur’s eldest daughter)  to undertake trauma healing to the children,” Cholisoh said.

The training itself was an initially step of the cooperation between Fatayat NU and Book Monster. Lisa herself also involved in the training.

”Next we will carry out technical stage, in which Lisa and her team will hold the trauma healing service to the victims in places that become the targeted regions of  Fatayat NU,” Cholisoh added. (ron)
