Anticorruption Education at Islamic boarding school? Why not?: Gus Solah

The leader of the Islamic boarding “pesantren” school Tebu Ireng KH Solahuddin Wahid offered Monday (28/8) such education of anticorruption through the Islamic boarding “pesantren” school. “Anticorruption Education at Islamic boarding school? Why not?”
“The fighting against corruption has been So far in progress, though it has not satisfied yet. We have offered what can be jointly done by both Islamic boarding school and Corruption Eradication Commission/KPK),” said Gus after meeting deputy of the KPK Erry Riyana Hardiapamekas at the KPK’s Building, Jalan Veteran III, Jakarta.
<>The prominent man of the country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlarul Ulama (NU) also said the war against corruption should be carried out not only through law enforcement but also through increasing people's awareness that such practices are unacceptable.He expected the anticorruption education through the Islamic boarding schools to give such favorable impact in society. “I don’t know (exactly) when the collaboration conducted. But certainly, there will be such cooperation with the Islamic boarding school,” Gus Solah added.
NU has recently launched books on the jurisprudence of corruption in the Islamic perspective: NU Melawan Korupsi Kajian Tafsir dan Fikih (NU Against Corruption: An Exegetical and Juridical Study) and Fiqh Antikorupsi (The Islamic Jurisprudence of Anticorruption). The organization hopes the books will lay a foundation for the implementation of Islamic teachings to fight corruption. (rif)
