The momentum of the Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) and Girl Students Association (IPPNU) Congress, held on 9-12 July was really used much more by delegates from both Yogyakarta and Central Java.
Through Yogyakarta and Central Java’s IPNU and IPPNU Regional Board (PW), the delegates strived to mobilize any form of aid by establishing humanitarian posts for the last May’s earthquake victims at the Congress arena of both NU youth organizations.
<>In Asrama Haji, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, where IPNU Congress XV held, Yogyakarta and Central Java’s PW IPNU for all nights received the aid amounted to Rp 2.618.100. It was received from the congress participants, documentary film VCD sale of Yogya and Central Java’s quake, and special contribution of Mojokerto’s PW IPNU.
While, the IPPNU Congress XIV held at the Islamic Boarding “Pesantren” Darun Najah, Yogya and Central Java’ PW IPPNU received the aid amounted to Rp 1.314.000. It was received as that of congress participants and documentary film VCD sale.
Coordinator of Yogyakarta and Central Java’ PW IPNU Humanitarian Aid Wahyu Budi said that all collected aids would purposefully be distributed to assist the Saturday’s victims in particularly educational sector.
“The received aids we will distribute for the victims in the form of goods. Next, we will purchase stationary supplies, books, pencils, and other school instruments,” Wahyu told NU Online, Thursday (13/7).
wahyu added that the humanitarian aids will evenly be distributed to the very damaged regions due to the very devastating disaster following the Aceh Tsunami last year. According to Wahyu, the regions were Bantul, Gunung Kidul, and Kulon Progo in particular. (rif)
